Team Honda Racing Ready for Penultimate Round of ASBK

10 November 2011

10 November 2011 – Team Honda Racing are assembling today at Symmons Plains Raceway for Round 7 of the Australian Superbike Championship this weekend.  This event is the penultimate round of the championship and a very important one indeed for the factory Honda team.

#27 Jamie Stauffer is currently in equal 2nd place with Ben Attard and is still in contention for the Superbike Title on his CBR1000RR placing his focus and determination at an all time high.

Stauffer:  “We tested recently and it was extremely positive.  I am really happy with the front forks now which is something we needed to improve and we also had some great success with the shock settings so it spurs me on going into Round 7.  The pressure is on, but that’s racing.  It should be a fantastic event.”

Also looking for a place on the podium is #47 Wayne Maxwell.  The recent test steels his determination going into the weekend’s event with a podium position a very real possibility.

Maxwell:  “I feel fairly confident after the test, we ironed out a few issues we’d had previously so the event at Symmons Plains should be a really strong one for Team Honda Racing.  I will be looking to get a lot more points on the board and move right up the points tally this weekend.  The CBR1000RR set up is where we need it and the final 2 rounds will really show the strength of the Honda in a competitive field.”

Team Principle Paul Free is excited to enter the pointy end of the season and has confidence in both the Honda CBR1000RR and his 2 riders.

Free:  “The recent test was terrific.  We learnt a lot about our forks and really improved the feeling of the forks under brakes and also on turning into corners.  Both riders are considerably happier with the feeling in the front fork which is fantastic.  Jamie and Wayne tested a different shock setting at the test too and we saw great improvement with it.  Jamie also tested Motologic’s new DVS shock and found a definite performance advantage over the current race shock.
It was great for the riders to get a day’s riding under their belts and to see such improvement.  I am quietly confident heading into Round 7 at Symmons Plains.”
