Cougar Bourbon Honda takes two Wins and Championship Lead

6 June 2010

Cougar Bourbon Honda Racing's Bryan Staring celebrated his 23rd birthday with his first win in the hard-fought Viking Group Australian Superbike Championship at the infamously-tough Queensland Raceway today.

Round three will go down in history as Bryan's first Superbike overall victory and he couldn’t be happier with the result-

"The team was amazing; we worked hard all weekend and I felt comfortable with our speed going into both races. The Cougar Bourbon Honda CBR 1000RR has been a blessing, we really have been lucky as the bike is a great package to begin with.

Bryan qualified second before taking both race wins ahead of Josh Waters and Wayne Maxwell respectively in both races.

"In race 1 I wasn't concerned where I was as long as I was in the mix. After the first few laps I was in second and then I made my move on Wayne and didn’t look back.

"Going into race 2 I felt that we could do it again as the CBR was really working well. I was nervous at first as leading Josh and Wayne into turn 3 on the first lap is intense. After a few laps I settled and we took the win."

Tony Hinton, General Manager of Honda Motorcycles is pleased to see the CBR 1000RR upfront-

"Bryan rode for us in the past and we have always believed in his talents. When we were asked to support the Cougar Bourbon team and Bryan Staring we felt comfortable that they were serious about chasing a championship.

"I am pleased for the team and am confident that this proves our bike is a competitive package for anyone wanting to go road racing."

Bryan’s team manager Russel Farrow was equally pleased with the end result –

"The team came together late and has worked tiresomely to aid in Bryan’s quest to win the championship. There are still plenty of races to go and we are looking forward to further our development on the Honda CBR 1000 RR as we prepare for the next round in August."

Bryan now leads the championship aboard his CBR 1000RR by 4.5 points with 3 rounds remaining
