NGK Nissan Motorsport Sponsorship

5 February 2013

NGK Spark Plug (Australia) Pty. Ltd. (“NGK Spark Plugs”) is pleased to announce the sponsorship of Nissan Motorsport in its first year of competing in V8 Supercars.

Mr. Damien Hill, NGK Spark Plugs General Manager Sales & Marketing said

“NGK Spark Plugs is a world leader in manufacturing spark plugs, and our products are trusted and used by many professional racing teams worldwide. Having a strong and enduring relationship with Nissan in Japan, it was a natural move for NGK Spark Plugs to further deepen the bond between both companies and increase brand presence in V8 Supercars”.

NGK Spark Plugs is looking forward to contributing to the 4-car operation and watching the drivers take the podium at as many rounds as possible in its inaugural season. “NGK Spark Plugs is proud of its support and sponsorship of race teams across many motor sports in Australia, and we are very excited about supporting the newly formed Nissan Motorsport Team. We wish the Team the best of luck for 2013” said Hill.

The arrival of NGK Spark Plugs is part of the ongoing development of the young Nissan Motorsport Team, which, since March 2012, has been working on building four new Nissan Altima V8 Supercars ready in time for the season opener in Clipsal. Rick Kelly, Director of Nissan Motorsport says “We’re delighted in announcing such a significant partnership with NGK Spark Plugs, world renowned for their consistent and reliable performance. NGK have a strong relationship with Nissan’s sporting arm NISMO, so we’ve been able to work with Japan in sourcing a spark plug which guarantees reliable ignition and is able to withstand the high-output generated by our engines. From a technical perspective it’s a perfect fit and we look forward to working with NGK Spark Plugs in the long-term future.”

The opening round of the 2013 V8 Supercars Championship begins 28 February -3 March in Adelaide.
